As example can serve NVIDIA initiative with the introduction of EPP expansions . OCZ technology company on Monday announced the memory module series PC 2-5400 Titanium AM2 special edition. They are equipped with heat-distributors titanium XTC, work in mode DDR 2-667 with latency 5-5-5-15 and voltage 1.8-2.0 v, they are supplied in dual-channel packages 2 X 2 Gb. Meanwhile their basic special feature consists in their optimization for use with processors AMD socket AM2. This optimization is serious : This memory modules cannot work in Intel platform . Integrated memory controller in AMD processors support addressing with 11- digital columns and page size 16 kbits. The standard memory controllers , which are used in other platforms, use 10 digital columns and page size 8 kbits. New memory modules OCZ allow to maximally use the possibilities of the built-in memory controller in AMD processors . During this organization of access to memory each page by size 16 kbits can contain 2048 ( IN ) points. This allows the memory controller in processors socket AM2 to remain on one page two times longer in comparison with standard memory controller . The increased page size allow to increase the system performance with applications witch use intensive graphic - for example, in Adobe photo-shop and also applications for video editing . Memory module series AM2 special edition are oriented to use in 64- bit operating systems. Their volume is equal to 2 Gb, in total they allow to increase the operational memory volume to 4 Gb or 8 Gb - depending on a quantity of slots DIMM.
