Yesterday AMD company demonstrated before media representatives and analyst , servers system on base of barcelona processors . The task of this action was the speed comparison of four core barcelona processors and dual cores opteron processors from the existing generation. Randy allen, AMD Vice President on servers and work stations, again noted that AMD company intends to begin the mass deliveries of barcelona processors in the middle of this year, system on their base will appear in the third quarter. In the course of demonstration were used two servers with four processor socket each. In the first were installed four core processor barcelona, in the second dual core processors opteron. Both systems executed POV-Ray benchmark. Four core processor barcelona demonstrated the speed 4000 pixels per second, dual core processors opteron was limited to 2200 pixels per second. As Mr. Allen explained, in this test , barcelona system was not at its highest frequency. Their was no real speed comparisons of barcelona and Intel clovertown , AMD representatives were assured in the superiority of their product. AMD also refused to compare barcelona and Penryn (Harpertown) since Intel, until now, did not allow independent test . Related Products :
