NVIDIA company finally yesterday formally introduced the technology 3-Way SLI, formerly known to us under the name of Triple SLI. This concept allow  to combines in the same system three GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card or GeForce 8800 Ultra. NVIDIA assure that the  growth in performance compared to a single graphics card should reach 2.8 times. First note that triple SLI require enormous resources not available to everyone. The system with three GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics card will be the most rapid in the world. It should be recognized that the idea of 3-Way SLI embodied better than the forgotten Quad SLI. In other words, 3-Way SLI really works, and this is already progress to improve multi chip configurations. . Associate checked the performance of systems with 3-Way SLI support  , and it became clear that the average advantages size is 40%. Note that triple SLI allows  to play with the game crysis with maximum settings at the very high resolution, retaining a normal speed. Here is the requirement for 3-Way SLI : Three GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card or GeForce 8800 Ultra (available from different manufacturers); Motherboard Based on chipset nForce 680i SLI with three slots PCI Express x16 (prepared as nForce 780i SLI for Intel platform and similar chipsets for AMD platforms); Power supply with capacity at least 1100 W, with six connectors for connecting video (six 6-pin or four 6-pin plus two 8-pin power connector); Case unit, with the possibility to install a maximum number of additional fans; Monitor 30 inch with support to 2560 x 1600 resolution (in any case, this is recommended); Bridge to Triple-SLI will be sold separately for $ 18-20; Operating system Windows Vista and ForceWare drivers not lower then version 169.18 (Windows XP does not support 3-Way SLI). In this list we can include high end four core intel processor , which will be able to unlock the full potential of 3-Way SLI, but it has its nuances. . As is known, the motherboard based on nForce 680i SLI can work with only 65 nm processor Kentsfield .
