Intel company , recently informed ( by document PCN ¹108304-00 ) their partners, computers collectors and servers, that itanium 2 will be removed from production. Instead of Itanium 2 from second March 2008 this processor will be called simply Itanium.  The itanium 2 appeared with 180- nm processors mcKinley in 2002 . Last itanium 2 are made in thinner standards 90 nm : core montvale and Montecito. The 65- nm processors tukwila, which have 2 billion transistors, will obtain the new simplified design.
