The Japanese company elpida memory reported about the first DDR3 SDRAM with 1Gbit density and 2,5 Gbit/s. capacity Elpida chip use copper connections and other update, which not only allow to substantially raise the speed, but also to lower the supply voltage to 1,2 v.
It is remarkable, that the new memory can work with the standardized DDR3 specification ( 1,5 v voltage ). and also with 1,35 v. Note with 1,5 v the capacity is 2,5 Gbit/s, with 1,2 v it is equal to 1,8 Gbit/s, which substantially exceeds the standard value 1,6 Gbit/s with 1,5 v voltage .
In the relative expression, new memory is up to 25% faster than products with aluminum internal connections. Furthermore, the required power of new memory is up to 22% lower. This memory is intended for high performance servers and PC. The deliveries will begin in this month. In future , elpida plan to transfer the new memory to the thinner technical process standards, witch will additionally increase its speed and decrease the energy consumption. Related Products :
