For the first time we heard about lucid information technology company 1.5 year ago, when it declared about the development of special switchboard for Graphic chips, which allow to increase the effectiveness of multi-chips configurations.

This development was intended for the end of 2007, but only on present IDF fall 2008 , lucid company demonstrated the first chip models : hydra 100.
Ironically, this chip will get the numerical index ( 100 ) as the corresponding bridge nForce 100, which partially fulfills close functions. But here lucid development was called to ensure simultaneous support of SLI and CrossFire, moreover the performance will be scaled almost linearly. The only limitation is the overall motherboard dimensions witch limit this technology to four video cards, theoretically Hydra 100 can unite ten video card .

It is briefly known that hydra engine technology flexibly distributes load between video chips , literally dividing scene in separate polygons. This allow not only to attain a grow in mutithread task, but also allows to use different generations video card from one producer.
The chip lucid hydra 100 can be installed on motherboards , this will allow to simultaneously support SLI and CrossFire . Furthermore, hydra 100 chip can be placed on two-chip video cards, and perform the role of switchboard. Hydra 100 has a low- energy consumption level witch does not exceed 5 W. Products on base of this chip will appear in the following year.
