INTEL company reported many details with respect to solid-state disks.
In the high performance segment the company is intended to release the 2,5- inches models Intel extreme SSD X25- E with volume 32 and 64 GB, in which INTEL used SLC NAND memory . The declared reading speed of these devices composes 250 MB./s, write : 170 MB./s.
The Basic segment will cover the 1,8- inch X 18- M and 2,5- inches X25- M . These SSD will use MLC NAND memories , which will allow to reduce the cost. In this case the recording speed will be 70 MB./s (According to Intel engineers the reading speed will be preserved at the level 250 MB./s). To the end of year INTEL company promises to release X25- M with volume of 80 and 160 GB.
In all models Intel plan to use the 50- NM chips from their own production. The specialized controllers are also created by Intel specialists .
