AMD company talked much time about the high overclocking potential of 45 NM processors phenom II X4. It does not forbid the owners of engineering models to report about the impressive overclocking potential of these processors, but it does not permit openly speaking about their speed level .
On XtremeSystems forum appeared a new proof of the ability of phenom II X4 940 Black edition (3.0 GHz) processor to be overclocked up to 4.2 GHz with powerful air cooler . At the frequency 4018 MHz, the processor executed the test SuperPI 1M, while at the 4.2 GHz frequency the processor was CPU- Z stable (or just screen shot stable :-) ).
The Zalman cooler was coupled with the motherboard Gigabyte GA -MA790GP-DS4h, based on AMD 790GX chipset. The processor voltage was increased to 1.55 v.
After raising the Vcore to 1.6 v and the use of dry ice, the owner of engineering model could overclock this processor to 4.8 GHz (SuperPI 1M). Related Products :
