At the end of December, we already reported about the characteristics of GT212 chip , which already in the second quarter this year will have to replace GT200b. This new chip will be released on 40 NM technological processes, 384 or 480 stream processors, high memory capacity and on the performance level it will compose competition to the GeForce GTX 295.
Today appeared a complete characteristic of this video card. Thus, the graphic processor with GT212 code name will possess 384 stream processors (SP) and 96 sample textures blocks (TMU) in 12 clusters (TPC). The relationship of stream processors and sample textures blocks will change to 4:1. GT200, have the relationship 3:1 and possess 240 stream processors and 80 sample textures blocks, in 10 clusters.  Thus, the new NVIDIA high end chip will possess a large mathematical power, which will be formed with both : the increased number of stream processors and with increased shader domain frequencies . Besides the changes in the balance of mathematical and textural blocks, GT212 will obtain an optimized (ROP) block , which will effectively use the potential of GDDR- 5 memory. GT212 will possess a 256- bit memory bus , which is the half than GT200, the number of ROP blocks will also decrease doubly from 32 pieces to 16. But, GT212 video card will use GDDR5 with the clock frequency 1250 MHz : effective frequency 5 GHz. Thus, in spite of the narrower memory bus ( than GT200 ), the new chip will possess a capacity memory, equal to 160 GB per second, which is a little larger, than in GeForce GTX 285 (158 GB per second). It is worthwhile to note that in spite of the modest quantitative characteristics, the new ROP blocks will be capable of exceeding old, utilized in GT200b. This difference will be especially noticeable in heavy regimes, with MSAA 8x and above. GT212 will consist approximately on 1800 million transistors and possess an area less than 300 square millimeters.
