according to some resource amd sempron processor will be based in dual core in Q3 2007.it do not metter how was advanced the technology , sooner or later it will migrate to mainstream and even entry-level microprocessors.
The new dual core sempron processor will be called sempron x2 is expected to get the 65nm process technology, the cache size still unclear until the moment but considering the current technology evolution this cpu should be 2 * 256 kb or 2 * 512 kb cache .the future dual core sempron processor will not consume a lot of power and will be compatiblt with am2 socket supporting dual channel ddr 2 memory up to ( DDR 800 ) pc 6400.
the additional core will allow the processor to handle moew task simultaneously.it can excute two thread at same time withour performance lost.intel this year has lower performance in dual core chips than amd 64 x2 cpu in many application and benchmark .with the intel price drop this month the D 805 p4 will be priced as low as 93$
amd have high pressure from intel due to the price drop and the launch of the new conroe processor.let s see what sould happen this summer
