The first overclock results of extreme processors core i7 was average. In this case the members of xtremeSystems achieved a good results using core i 7-920 (2.66 GHz). In this case the motherboard EVGA on base of Intel x58  chipset allowed to overclock the series processor to 4.3 GHz with the use of air cooler : tuniq tower, and using the regime turbo boost ensured reaching the frequency 4.54 GHz. The bus frequency in this case was equal to 216.5 MHz, and the multiplier grew up to 21x from its default value 20x. Now  the majority of Core i7 owners notes that 220 MHz is the FSB limit . Associate with the reference to Intel recommendation report that the increase of QPI voltage over 1.315 v is undesirable. Note also the recommended limit for the memory voltage is 1.65 v i, while for the processor core it is 1.55 v. One owners of engineering model core i 7-920 (2.66 GHz) was able to reach the BUS 229 MHz using a motherboard from gigabyte production  .  Increasing the processor multiplier  to 21x allow to reach the frequency 4823 MHz. In this case the processor was cooled by some extreme phase change unit or liquid nitrogen. NVIDIA already reported about the transfer of G9x chips in the 55 nm technical process. The G94,  in its of 55 nm version was already noted on some GeForce 9600 GT video card. Here is the video card GeForce 9600 GSO+ from Inno 3d : this card is based on the printed-circuit board INNO3D design, it is equipped with eight qimonda memory microcircuits  , with access time 1.2 ns, which corresponds to frequency 1666 MHz DDR; however, memory operates at the frequency 1800 MHz DDR. The core works at 650/1625 MHz frequencies (core/shader) . The power is organized according to three-phase : two for the graphic processor and one for the memory. Moreover this case include two DVI and support SLI. The cost of such card is about $87, which is higher than the recommended for GeForce 9600 GSO $69. Most likely, precisely the GeForce 9600 GSO will become the first G94b, since this card is positioned lower than GeForce 9600 GT, and therefore producer is interested in reduction of its prime cost using cheaper and more economical G94 chip version. We reported yesterday about AMD representatives which talked about a new processor, capable of competing with Intel atom . Today appeared the detailed commentaries of AMD colleagues on this question. As it is explained, Randy Allen (Randy allen) : "From all possibilities, which we could use, we excluded processors for smartphone ". AMD will release processors for different devices, from mini- notebooks to the server solutions, but it will not exceed this limits . In the opinion of AMD representatives  , intermediate class device between the cell phone and notebok does not have a special market prospects. At least, the company will not waste its forces in the MID ( mobile Internet- devices ). Let us note that in MID segment is interested not only Intel company , which intends to present in the middle of 2009 lincroft generation processors with the integrated graphic core and the hardware function for video acceleration  . NVIDIA Company moves its integrated processor tegra, which can be used in the same segment. Associate tested the radeon of 4870 X2 from Palit , @ the frequencies 750/3800 MHz ( default for this video card ). This card is equipped with 2 X 1 Gb GDDR5 memory . We note that some energy-saving functions do not function correctly and the energy consumption level in the quiescent conditions was 80 W higher than in the standard version radeon HD 4870 X2. Furthermore, the three-stage cooler in the quiescent conditions occurs noisier than the standard version. Under load, however, the difference in the energy consumption is decreased by several percents, and the noise level is lower . This card was able to overclock from 750/3800 to 822/2282 MHz.
