AN Extremely interesting system was used by our associate for tests . As the graphic accelerator we have here the Gainward  radeon HD 4850 , the platform consisted on FOXCONN renaissance motherboard with Intel x58 chipset and nehalem processor, which operated at 2,93 GHz frequency. For  comparison we have a similar card radeon HD 4850 together with Core 2 Extreme QX9650 (3 GHz) in 3DMark vantage. It is necessary to note that Nehalem system collected 7260 (7136 for the QX system) with the resolution 1280 X 1024 pixels without AA and AF. Walton chaintech company presented the special memory modules APOGEE GT, which is oriented to overclocker's.  APOGEE GT memory support the enhanced performance profiles (EPP) technology  , which allow to use the fine SPD adjustments  and to ensure  higher productivity for the memory system . This memory support NVIDIA EPP 2.0 modules APOGEE GT EPP, witch allow to easily select the optimum frequency and taming. In chipset 680i SLI the memory modules APOGEE GT DDR2-1066 work with CL 5-5-5-15 latency with the supply voltage 1,9 v, with the same latency APOGEE GT DDR2-1150 work but with 2,1 v. For the NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI chipset, supporting EPP 2.0, we have the modules APOGEE GT DDR3-1600, which reach the latency CL 8-7-7-18 with 1,8 v, and DDR3-1800 memory with CL 8-8-8-24 and 1,9 V. In Q4 2008 , AMD will present the 45 nm processors (socket AM3) with the integrated DDR3 memory controller .Such processors will work in socket AM2 or Socket AM2+ motherboards, since the memory controller will support also DDR-2. Associate get some slide from AMD road-map, this company intends to present a chipset for AM3 platform in the first half 2009. These chipset will support DDR-3. In Q1 2009 , AMD will release the chipset RD790, which will occupy the place of present AMD 790FX, and will use the south bridge SB750. The latter, will be released in Q3 2008. In the second quarter 2009 , AMD will show the chipset RD890, which will be combined with the new south bridge SB800. In the integrated segment AMD will release the chipset RS880. Western digital, company , released in April the fast 300- GB disk velociRaptor and already prepared other models will  lower capacities , This 3,5 inch disk made from 2,5 plates is faster than the majority of SATA- disks 3,5 for desktop PC, including the series raptor WD1500 with the same frequency  (10 thousand rp/min). Therefore  our associates decided to compare the 300- GB version with the 146- GB SAS- disks. For the HDD test (more precise, three 300 - GB velociRaptor) associate decided to use the controller areca PCIe X8 for the RAID 5 regime The obtained results already show that the new WD is up to 33% faster than WD1500 . In this case its price remains within the limits between the standard SATA- disks and high-end SAS- devices.
