Swiftech company , which recently released several new product (MCW 60-4870, MCRES micro revision 2, MCW60) , presented a new product : Swiftech H 20-220 Apex ultima plus. H 20-220 Apex ultima plus remove heat from the CPU, GPU and chipset . Apex ultima plus, as it is declared, includes all necessary for assembling a water cooling system. It include : MCW60 rev2 VGA, adapter GT200 for installation on NVIDIA GTX260/280, memory radiators MC14 and mosfet MC21, and also the water block MCW30 for chipset installation . Now there are many new thermal-pastes, which differ in the effectiveness and cost , for this reason we decided today to check 17 thermal-interface . Here is the system used : Motherboard: DFI LANPARTY DK X48-T2RS (Intel x48), LGA 775, Bios 29/08/2008; Processor: Intel core 2 Extreme QX9650, 3.0 GHz, 1.25 v, L2 2 x 6 Mb, FSB: 333 MHz x 4, (Yorkfield, C0); Processor cooling system : ZEROtherm ZEN FZ120 (~1130 rp/min X 2); Video card : HIS radeon HD 4870 GDDR5 512 Mb/256 bits, @830 (300)/3600 MHz; Video card cooling system : Arctic cooling accelero twin turbo (~2090 rp/min x 2); Memory: 2 x 1024 Mb DDR2 corsair dominator TWIN2X2048-9136C5D (Spec: 1142 MHz/5-5-5-18/2.1 v); 2 x 1024 Mb DDR2 CSX DIABLO CSXO-XAC-1200-2GB-KIT (Spec: 1200 MHz/5-5-5-16/2.4 v); HDD : SATA- II 300 Gb, Western digital velociRaptor, 10 000 rp/min, 16 Mb, NCQ; Drive: SATA- II DVD RAM & DVD±R/RW & CD±RW samsung SH-S183L; Case: ATX ASUS ASCOT 6AR 2B black&Silver Power unit: Thermaltake toughpower 1500 watts (W0218) (130- mm fan); Monitor: 24 inches BenQ FP241W (Wide LCD, 1920 x 1200/60 Hz). All tests were executed under the operating system Windows vista ultimate edition x86 SP1. For monitoring the processor temperature we used SpeedFan utility version 4.36 beta 15, which reads temperature directly from the processor registers In order to increase the 45- nm four core processor heat emission , this last was overclocked to 3.75 GHz (+ 25.0%) with ~1.5 v (+ 20.0%): The utilized today cooler with best thermal-interface is capable to cool the overclocked processor @3.85 GHz (we deal here with load under Linpack , but due to some poor thermal paste we decided to overclock the processor to 3.75 only in order to maintain the system stability ); Let us pass directly to the obtained results . Combined chart Idle chart OCCT chart Linpack chart According to test results , eight thermal-interface can be isolated in one group of highly effective thermal-pastes from the leading IC diamond 7 Carat and Coollaboratory liquid pro to Noctua NT-H1. In this case Arctic cooling MX-2 , Gelid GC1 and liquid Zalman ZM-STG1 are worse by a few degrees. However, the difference in temperature between IC diamond 7 Carat and even Zalman ZM-STG1 comprises not more than 2.5 degree ; therefore any of these 11 thermal-interface can be recommended for use on CPU. In this case SilMORE supplied in the complete set with many cooler, proves to be worse by 17 than others , so it is recommended to change it immediately . Since thermal paste can be also used with GPU we decided to check our RV770 overclocked to 830 MHz: In the 2d- regime the frequency was reduced to 300 MHz (idle). let us look to the results : Combined chart Idle chart 3D2006 chart FureMark chart It is interesting that the whole picture did not change. From the entire variety of tested thermal-interface, today, I did not recommend to use thermal-pastes as AiT cool silver, Pro-Thermal 81, Radial pro and Zalman ZM-STG1. The thermal-interface SilMORE is categorically not recommended since it was the worst today, It s pretty interesting how producer continue to supply such thermal interface with their coolers . Arctic alumina proved to be one of the worst thermal-pastes; however, this thermal-paste can ensure a effective heat transfer at very low temperatures, which will be useful to extreme overclockers. From the recommended group we have liquid metal from Coollaboratory, and also Coollaboratory liquid metalPad. We may add also the new thermal-paste OCZ freeze extreme as highly effective, comparatively inexpensive and convenient in application. As a whole the number of effective thermal-interface is now not limited by two or three representatives. Note also that our test is not 100% accurate since some thermal paste my improve their result after some usage. According to analysts ,the mobile segment market will strongly grew in the third quarter, and the economic crisis effect will be noticeable in the fourth quarter and later periods. We will not forget, that in this year Intel company released a new class processors, which were united under the trade mark atom. Compact core and low prime cost allowed Intel to release these processors in large quantities. Only large production volumes can increase gain from the realization of atom processors . Associate with the reference to the data of analytical study IDC reports that precisely atom processors should be thanked for the positive market behavior in the third quarter. The indices of deliveries volume grew in this year by 15.8%, In this case without atom processors this increase would be equal to only 8.7%. In this year the market grew in terms of money only by 4.1%. The atom processors participated also in the increase of market share For Intel in the mobile segment. In the third quarter , the market share For Intel was 87.4% of all supplied mobile processors. Intel expects to increase the quantity of processors to the 18% level in comparison with last year (15.8%).
