Intel x58 chipset obtained the possibility to officially support SLI technology in the same time this platform will preserve the possibility to work with the CrossFireX technology . Associate tested the motherboard Asus P6T deluxe on base of Intel x58 and the processor core i7 extreme 965 (3.2 GHz) C0 stepping .

In the composition of the test platform enter a pair of video cards radeon HD 4870 from Asus productions with 512 MB GDDR5 memory , and also three giga-byte memory modules :DDR 3-1333 from A -DATa productions. All  tests are executed at the default processor frequency  3.2 GHz.

In the quiescent conditions the processor multiplier is reduced from 24x to 12x, and it operates at 1.6 GHz. Single video card radeon HD of 4870 at  815/3700 MHz frequencies in the test 3DMark vantage collects P10493 .

The activation of CrossFire X regime ( two video cards radeon HD 4870 ) ensures a increase to P16759.

In other words, under the specific conditions the CrossFire technology increases the speed almost by 60%.

Dynatron company released a new cooler for LGA 1366 processors.

Formally it is intended for server processors nehalem EP (Xeon 5500), but they can also cool the desktop processors bloomfield.

From the copper base we have four heat pipes.

The fan rotation speed varies in the limits from 1000 to 5500 rp/min, creating a noise level from 20,6 to 51,4 dB. The sizes are 94 X 89,5 X 64 mm and the mass is 460 gram.

The cost of this cooler in Japan is $56.

We already talked about future NVIDIA video cards rebrending : NVIDIA. GeForce GTS 150 (G92), GeForce GT 130 (G94) and GeForce GT 120 (G96). New cards prepared on base of 55 nm GT206 chip will obtain the names : GeForce GTX 270 and GeForce GTX 290.

• GeForce GTX 260/270/280/290 - > High-end segment;
• GeForce GT 230/250 - > Productive segment;
• GeForce GS 210/220 - > Mass video card segment ;
• GeForce G 200/209 - > Low-end segment.

The series GeForce GT 2xx will be presented in the following year, and in the second quarter will appear the first 40 nm NVIDIA video chip.

AMD representatives already reported about their intentions to present in 2009 video card with directX 11 support  , which will be released on 40 nm technology, and equipped with GDDR5 memory. Those products are RV870 representative in the mass segment.

Associate report that the base version RV870 will be equipped with 1Gb GDDR5 memory .

As showed tests, in contemporary games 1Gb GDDR5 memory is not excess.
