Realizing, that the development and release of its own chipset for LGA 1366 platform will not bring the desired financial results,  NVIDIA company decided to leave intel alone , after proposing  SLI support for intel x58 chipset with the use of NForce 200 chip . AND here only some important motherboards producers want to release such products, which ensure SLI support for LGA 1366 platform .  

Asus company in this sense possesses a sufficient engineering- financial potential, in order to release similar products. As explained associates ,  motherboards series P6T will not be the version from asus for LGA 1366 platform . This company prepares one additional motherboard relating to the Republic gamers series. This motherboard will be equipped with the nForce 200 chip, which allow to realize crossFire-X  and 3-Way SLI support on one system. The high chip heat emission  is one of the main problems, but Asus is ready to modernize the cooling system .

NVIDIA representatives recently reported that they underestimated the potential of new AMD video cards ( radeon HD 48xx ), but they attempted to correct situation with regular price reduction .

In this case for some NVIDIA partners  it was necessary to compensate the difference between the old and new price to the first video card buyers on base of GT200 chip .

Associate reports that in the middle of September NVIDIA company will present the new version geForce GTX 260, which will obtain 216 stream processors instead of the present 192 pieces. Frequencies will remain as before - 576/1242/1998 MHz as the memory capacity  ( GDDR-3 ) with 448- bit bus. There is no changes also in the design of cooling system. For the production of geForce GTX 260 will be used the reserves of 65 nm version GT200 chip .

The used method by AMD and NVIDIA companies ( dynamic switching between the integrated and discrete graphic core ) was realized in practice by intel company  , which is serious player in the mobile segment.

Theoretically, all is very simple - the chipset graphic core can be used in low load condition (2D regime) to economize the electric power. AND here When required (Gaming), the discrete graphic will be activated .

As reports associate , intel company demonstrated this technology in action on IDF fall. The laptop computer sony centrino 2 on base of integrated chipset intel and discrete video ard NVIDIA dynamically switched between these two graphic systems. In this case the laptop energy consumption was reduced from 25 to 15-16 W. In the real life this savings will allow to lengthen the battery charge by an additional hour. This technology will be used by laptop computers centrino 2.

For the first time we heard about lucid information technology company 1.5 year ago, when it declared about the development of special switchboard for Graphic chips, which allow to increase the effectiveness of multi-chips configurations.

This development was intended for the end of 2007, but only on present IDF fall 2008 , lucid  company demonstrated the first chip models : hydra 100.

Ironically, this chip will get the numerical index ( 100 ) as the corresponding bridge nForce 100, which partially fulfills close functions. But here lucid development was called to ensure simultaneous support of SLI and CrossFire, moreover the performance will be scaled almost linearly. The only limitation is the overall motherboard dimensions witch limit this technology to four video cards, theoretically Hydra 100 can unite ten video card .

It is briefly known that hydra engine technology flexibly distributes load between video chips , literally dividing scene in separate polygons. This allow not only to attain a grow in mutithread task, but also  allows to use different generations video card from one producer.

The chip lucid hydra 100 can be installed on motherboards , this will allow to simultaneously support SLI and CrossFire . Furthermore, hydra 100  chip can be placed on two-chip video cards, and perform the role of switchboard. Hydra 100 has a  low- energy consumption level witch does not exceed 5 W. Products on base of this chip will appear in the following year.
