Qimonda Company made clear step to the GDDR-5 memory standard . This last will provide not only bigger doubled capacity, but will also introduce new technologies and energy conservation, as well as error detection algorithm. Qimonda estimated , that GDDR-5 memory type will be three times faster than current GDDR-3 chips operating at 1600 MHz DDR frequency . Yesterday, Qimonda company officially stated the beginning of GDDR-5 samples supply will start. The first products using GDDR-5 will appear in 2008 . These will include not only high end video cards , but also graphics solutions for laptops, and gaming console.  GDDR-5 Memory type uses two clock frequencies for different operations, which minimizes the delay in recording and reading operations. The complete list of upate in GDDR-5 is described in this document from Qimonda site. It is possible that one of the first products using GDDR-5 will be Larrabee, developed by Intel company.
