Hitachi company reported in the past month that it has a available technologies, which allow to fix the production of 3.5 inches hard drives with 5 Tb volume ( in 2010 ). Now the most capacious hard drive is produced by seagate company  :  1,5 Tb volume  is formed with four plates on 375 Gb. Analogous plates are used by Hitachi, and nothing prevents it from releasing disks with 1,5 Tb volume even now. Last week hitachi Global storage technologies company extended a press release, were they reported about a new achievement : writing density 610 gigabits in one square inch using the existing technology  perpendicular recording . According to hitachi estimations , these developments in series products will allow to increase the capacity of hard drives by 2,5 times. We can only assume that hard drives with volume more than 2 Tb will be fixed in 2009. Related Products :
