The chipsets p31 and G31 are the followers of 945P, 945G and 945GL. New chipsets support DDR 2-800 and FSB 1066 MHz.
Although officially those chipset are calculated only for processors with maximum FSB frequency 1066 MHz , there are information, that some motherboard producers realized in their future product on base Of p31 and G31 the support of 1333- MHz processors.
In combination with chipset p31 and G31 will be used a comparatively old south bridge ICH7. But In this there are positive sides - ICH7 has IDE port , witch is required components for budget category mainboard to avoid additional prime cost due to the use of additional one .
The wholesale price Of p31 and G31 is 30 dollars. For comparison - 945P and 945G cost 33 and 37 dollars, respectively. In other words, Intel stimulates the passage of mainboards producers to the new chipset.
Later this month, is expected the deliveries of chipset intel g35 (average level with the integrated graphic system) and high performance chipset x38.
Intel plans prior the end of year to bring the share of product series 3x to 50% of the total deliveries volume , and up to 60% in the first quarter 2008. In the second quarter 2008, it is expected the release of new chipsets, known under the code name Eaglelake.
