The producers of finished computers suffer from the economic crisis. As reports associate with the reference to Lenovo data, that this fourth in value computers producer ( in the world ) already in the third quarter last year reported about reduction in profit by up to 78%. The results for thr fourth quarter will be even worse.
Lenovo is assembled to reduce in the current block approximately 2500 colleagues (11% of state), and to also reduce the payments volume to top managers by 30 - 50%. Up to March 2010 the company plans to save due to these measures up to $300 ml. Within the restructuring Lenovo plans to combine regional divisions, which correspond to China, Asian- Pacific Ocean region and Russia in order to remove duplicating functions. The center of telephone calls for Lenovo will be transfered from Canada to North Carolina (USA). Lenovo expenditures for restructuring in this block are achieved with $150 ml.
Dell company , which is the second largest computers producer in the world, also stated about its plans with respect to restructuring and reduction in the number of personnel, occupied in the production in Ireland. About 1900 colleagues will be removed, the corresponding positions will be transferred in Poland, where Dell has also some production capacities. The employment volume at the Irish factories will compose, all in all, 2400 men.
Mass reductions will impact local economy, where the production of computers at dell factories ensures up to 5% of national gross product. The level of unemployment in Ireland already reached 8%, and the transfer of dell production part in Poland caused serious public dissatisfaction.
